1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ an excellent choice for people who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.
Both robots are adept at picking up surface dirt on floors and carpets and can navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots that we test the i3+ does not have a feature for avoiding obstacles and therefore it could get stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces like hardwood to rug.
iRobot recommends clearing areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, which includes clearing out any clutter or toys it may come across. You should also keep the filters and dust bin free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and automatically empties the dirt into the station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning from where it left off. The battery's life span is approximately an hour-and-a-half of continuous usage. It takes three hours to fully charge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in the iRobot flagship line and has the most up-to-date features. It is self-charging and self-navigating, but the most important feature is its auto-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.

In our testing, the i7+ was more agile and faster than our second-placed model and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface kinds, including carpeting. We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines and to move around the room, and even vacuum an area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. Once connected to these services, we were able use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered with a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy that produces power without fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels clean air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets, and then pick up large particles or fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adjusted to the task. It quickly converts from floor vac to handheld vacuum and back again.
This model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100 percent within 3.5 hours. It also gives the ability to connect two attachments and a wand. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons models, that require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The V10's main drawback is its limited running time. The claims of its marketing that it can provide up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading as CR's tests show. This is a typical, not exceptional, battery-powered vacuum's run time. This is enough time to clean the average-sized home however, it's not enough time to reach every spot. (A second pass usually works). However, this model doesn't have its advantages It's lighter and more maneuverable than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming efficiency is superior on carpets with a low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have lots of money to invest in an expensive robot. It's capable of sucking up a variety of kinds of debris in our tests, and frequently goes over the same areas multiple times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front end helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice feature.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and navigate your home. It's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings, and much more. It's easy to understand and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86 percent of it. However, it wasn't particularly well in avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks which was a disappointment. It's priced higher than other models we've tested, and this could be a deal breaker for certain shoppers.

The app allows you to steer the robot manually, if necessary. My living room rug, for example is darkly colored that can trip up some other robots. However the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border, without registering it as a cliff. Also, the ability to create a weekly cleaning schedule is a fantastic time-saving feature.
